Our wonderful semester together is drawing to a close. Here are a few reminders:

  • Science final exam is Monday, June 17th. It will begin at 10am - you have until noon to finish. Consult the study guide this weekend to guide your studying. You will have a sub on Monday morning until 10am to do any last minute review. Return your science text book. 
  • Outdoor pursuits final projects are due at 1pm on Monday, June 17th. Presentations will take place from 1pm to 3pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone's projects!
  • Socials final exam is Tuesday, June 18th. The exam will be supervised by a substitute teacher. It will begin at 9am and you have 3 hours to write it. Part of the exam is open book so bring your socials text book. Consult the study guide this weekend to guide your studying. You are dismissed for the day at noon - bring a good book to read if you finish early. Arrange your own transportation home at noon or remain at the school in the library until your bus arrives.
  • All outstanding course work that you would like evaluated must be turned into me by 1pm on Monday, June 17th - no exceptions. Everyone has been given a marks sheet for Socials 9, Science 9 and Outdoor Pursuits 9. Parents, if you would like these marks sheets emailed to you, let me know. 
  • Many of you owe me current events sheets. Here is the current events template - my apologies for not being able to give you paper copies. You may fill it out directly on the template and email your assignments to me or print and hand in paper copies on Monday. You may choose any current events articles you wish to discuss.
  • Please return SASE program gear
 
  • Study/ work day tomorrow at school - bring your socials and science books
  • Hand in sea kayak trip journal tomorrow if not finished ***Don't forget your self assessment
  • Wash and dry your bear canister, dry bags and other gear you may have borrowed
  • Clean your wetsuit in a washing machine and dry it (hang to dry or put in a clothes dryer)
  • Clean up your gear from our sea kayak trip - remember that this is your responsibility, not your parents' responsibility
  • Return your birth certificate/ passport to your parents
  • Hope you have had a shower already :)
 
Holy moly...what a trip! We had sunshine, light winds, amazing paddling, whales, sea lions, dolphins, marbled murrelets, temperate rainforest plants galore, intertidal invertebrates, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, glacier views, travel through 3 major biomes of the world, great food, great company...and more! Definitely a stellar SASE trip to end the semester.
 
Here are a few shots from our climbing session at the Rock Gardens on Wednesday. Effort, attitude and skill development were all top notch.
 
  • ODPU 9 - we leave on our kayak trip Monday - here's the parent letter and the equipment list should anyone need a refresher; please note that we will DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSPORT OR PHOTO ID/ BIRTH CERTIFICATE; bring a salmon fishing rod if you have one; ODPU 9 final project presentations are on June 17th beginning at 1pm - get started this weekend if you haven't already
  • Science 9 - your final exam is at 10am on June 17th; use your study guide to help direct your studying this weekend
  • Socials 9 - your final exam is taking place in chunks during our upcoming trip to Haines; use the study guide to help direct your studying/ preparation this weekend

  • ODPU 9 - pack for upcoming Haines kayak trip (you can bring in gear tomorrow if you would like but everything has to be in for Monday; passports or birth certificate/ photo ID can get handed to me tomorrow so you don't have to remember over the weekend; get busy with your final projects
  • Science 9 - final exam is set for June 17th at 10am; final exam study guide was issued today...get crackin'; mark printouts were issued today - any outstanding work or improvements to existing work will be accepted until June 17th
 
Great day climbing today at the Rock Gardens everyone. You all climbed really well and were a pleasure to work with as always.

No explicit homework tonight. You have final exams coming up so you can start to review and finish any outstanding assignments. Your ODPU final project is coming up as well...get crackin' on it if you haven't already.

Here is the plan for the next couple of weeks to alleviate any confusion:

  • Jun 6-7: in-school days to tie up loose ends with socials and science; mark updates issued; final exam study guides issued; prep for kayak trip
  • Jun 10-13: Haines kayak trip (see parent letter for more info); socials 9 final exam will take place during this trip
  • Jun 14: final exam prep
  • Jun 17: science 9 final exam in morning; ODPU final project presentations in the afternoon
  • Jun 18: McDade away on first aid course; possible day off or gear cleaning/ inventory day

***Please note that final exam dates have changed. Students are not writing final exams tomorrow and Fir
 
 
***We are sea kayaking all day tomorrow so bring the following:
-Lunch
-Water
-Non-cotton long-sleeved shirt
-Swim shoes/ dry shoes
-Change of clothes/ towel
-Sunglasses/ sunscreen/ hat
-Clothes appropriate for weather (i.e. mid-layers and shells)

  • Science 9 - complete chapter 7 of your workbook
  • ODPU 9 - Answer these 15 questions from the Sea Kayaking Safety Guide you were given to read


***Give your parents the Sea Kayak Trip Parent Letter and have them fill out the emergency medical insurance sheet - return this yellow half-page tomorrow
